Contaminated air is drawn by a fan \u2013 through<br \/>\na filter catching dust and other contaminations-into the<br \/>\ndisinfection chamber. The UV-C tube intensity and a<br \/>\ntime during which air remains in the disinfection chamber are<br \/>\nselected so that air blown out from the lamp is<br \/>\npractically free of microorganisms. Velocity of air flow<br \/>\nthrough the disinfection chamber is therefore selected<br \/>\nas a compromise between a desire to disinfect the greatest volume<br \/>\nof air per time unit and germicidal effectiveness.
